THE WORKSHOPS.

5×4 Workshop with ‘Adam’.

The workshop with Adam was very useful, as i’ve never used a 5×4 camera before I was very intrigued on how to work with the camera and too see what the outcome was. Although the camera looked in tensed, I was slightly scared of using and touching it, but when I got stuck in and started. I found it quite easy and straight forward to use, Which was very positive. Photo below is my final product from the workshop.Screen Shot 2016-04-16 at 14.50.06

Collage Workshop with ‘Annie’.

For this workshop, we had to produce a collage, using old materials, photos, newspaper, magazines ect. Possibly anything you wanted to use to make a collage. I found this workshop very enjoyable and entertaining. It was very creative and open as you could produce anything you liked. After the workshop I explored on the idea of producing a collage. I found Portrait images which I sourced from google and used photoshop to make a collage, I added colours on top of the images and overlayed them to make a variety of different effects.

The collage is not perfect but I just wanted to explore with different images to see what the outcome would be. Personally I’m intrigued by the colours and the variety of images I’ve used. Theres a lot going on, in that one image, it makes the audience have plenty to look at and an oodles of viewpoints. I love the colours used, it gives that extra touch to the photo. As well because there’s different colours used, not just one. Which makes the image more captivating and absorbing. obviously the image above are very pixilated as they are just from google, which I’ve added to photoshop.

Modification & Appropriation Collage with ‘Stewart’.

For this workshop, we got told how to produce something called ‘Type animation’ Which is basically a collage type of style but in a moving image. I instantly thought ‘This could be cool and enjoyable to produce’. Before the workshop, I searched what ‘Type animation’ was because I didn’t have no clue, all I knew it was something to do with moving Image. I came across an artist ‘Robert Breer’, Who’s specialises and creates this type of movement.

>>> I’ve collected a vimeo below, showing you his work and style.>>>

The video of Breer, is very captivating and enthralling to watch. There’s always a different movement or something going on in each frame. The viewer has always got something to watch and there’s never a blank moment. His use of colour and shapes is absorbing. As it’s very confusing to always know what it going to happen or what is actually going on. The sound used is very bizarre, as a viewer you don’t always know what is being said, but you know it fits well with the drawings and shapes throughout.

As the workshop was only 2 hours, the group didn’t get a chance to develop and make something for this workshop. But I did find it very useful and fascinating to know how to produce something like this. I will go away and try and develop something. As I did really enjoy it and I am interested to this type of style.
