Child Poverty within Photomontage
My proposed area of study for this assignment, will be categorically looking into photomontages. Which will be based around child poverty. Within this project i will look in to several researching methods for example Journals, Critical theory’s, book, blogs and internet research ect. I feel like for the project this is the best theory for me to look into and understand for experimental. My aims of the project are to expand on a more an appropriate understanding of my idea and subject matter from the first assignment and to also be able to develop a final piece which i’ll be able to present at an exhibition standard. Which I personally think that fits within the category of experimental.
The reason behind my idea is that during the workshops this year and last semester I’ve enjoyed creating and assembling this technique – Photomontage. The reason I’m portraying Child poverty is becuase it’s a very strong subject with in photography and I feel like I could portray this through different techniques and methods in my own stylistic way. My intention for this experimental project is to look in detail towards photographers and artist who have done similar work based around child poverty and techniques such as Photomontages and collages. As this theme is what I desire to do. I’ll be exploring and critiquing the work of artists such as David Hockney, Richard Hamilton and more, for uplifting and exhilarating ideas and styles of their work that I could utilise myself in my Piece.
My Image will be in black and white as a lot of photographers who pursue in this aura shot in black and white. To bring that detailed effect and form which makes the image more personal and brings out the story of the photograph. Initially thinking for the final piece, as required to be anything, my initial thought is to achieve one final portrait shot mounted onto a3. Which resembles my understanding and experimentations on the subject matter.
The audience of this assignment can be associated to anyone. It’s very open as the subject itself sympathetic is about families and life misunderstandings. I individualistically want the audience to feel associated with the photograph and for you to feel that meaning behind the photo. And for you to be able to emphasise that connection and reaction you have with the child.
Along with that information I’ll be looking into literature reviews to justify and reconstruct the conclusion of the theory. An example of a piece of literature that I would review is ‘Poltical photomontage: transformation, revelation, and -truth’. With in the book ‘Wendy ann’ discusses about ‘Walter Benjamin’, ‘John Heartfelt’, ‘Berlin Dada’. Theory’s on the political photomontage and transformation, revelation and truth.
In conclusion, to the subject matter of ‘Photomontage’ discussed throughout the proposal I’ve mentioned a variety of techniques that I would use to deliberate in my work. Which will help me engage and exceed and understanding on my knowledge of the material I am producing. Also by collecting data that will help question and divide possibilities on this subject matter. I personally feel I can carry out this stylistic approach and develop something at a reasonable standard. The aims and objectives has a diversed narrow outcome for the Project.
